Description
The Old Workhouse is a building that dates back to 1734, with later alterations in the mid-19th century and the 20th century. It is constructed from colourwashed rendered brick and features a slate roof with two lateral stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, presenting a six-bay front with a band at the first floor and a second floor band on the return walls.
On the left side, there is a doorway with a panelled door. To the left of this doorway, a three-light 20th-century casement window is situated, while to the right are two three-light plain sash windows, followed by another doorway with a plain doorcase, a plain rectangular hood, and a three-quarter glazed door. To the far right, there is a small two-light casement window with a large colourwashed stone lintel above it.
On the upper floor, there are three sliding sash windows, with the middle window featuring a wooden lintel. The north return wall consists of two bays, which include a blocked doorway to the left and a three-light 20th-century casement window to the right, also with a wooden lintel. Above this, there are two glazing bar casements, both with wooden lintels, and a single glazing bar casement in the garret, which also has a wooden lintel.
