Description
The Skirbeck Quarter War Memorial is situated in the churchyard of the Church of St Thomas in Skirbeck Quarter, Boston. It stands to the south-east of the church within a triangular area next to the path. The memorial is made of white stone and features a tall Latin cross with the letters IHS carved at the center of the cross arms. It rises from a square plinth and a three-stepped base.
The cross shaft has a square shape with chamfered edges and small roll stops at the bottom. The horizontal cross-beam mirrors this design, with squared ends that include a recessed cross. The plinth is also square, with chamfered corners, broach stops at the base, and a canted top. The stepped base is square and lacks decoration.
On the front face of the plinth, the inscription reads "THE/ GALLANT/ DEAD/ 1914 + 1918/ R.I.P." The other sides of the plinth are inscribed with the names of those who fell in the war.
