Description
No. 18 Market Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 18th century and retains some late medieval features, with a late 19th-century front that was altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and red brick, topped with a slate roof.
The exterior consists of two storeys plus attics, featuring a two-bay front with a 20th-century shop front. There is a moulded cornice and a plain parapet. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century sash windows with curved heads and fluted scrolled keystones. In the attic, there is a single dormer window. The side wall contains a late medieval king post, and there may be concealed timber framing in the passage wall. At the rear, there is an 18th-century range with sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
