Description

The Barge Inn is an early 19th-century inn, manager's house, and stable block that has been converted into flats. It features red brick in Flemish bond with stucco dressings and a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets. The building has three storeys and a five-bay front facing Tattershall Road, which includes a broad first-floor band.

The entrance door consists of eight flush panels and has a radiating fanlight, flanked by single windows with broad segmental arches. The left window is a 20th-century casement, while the right is a tripartite plain sash with a radiating fanlight. To the right of the entrance is a pair of half-glazed doors with a semicircular fanlight, set in an open pedimented doorcase with wide attached half-columns and accessed by two steps. There is also a later 19th-century shop front to the right, featuring three 20th-century glazing bar sashes, plain pilasters, consoles, and a fascia.

On the first floor, there are four glazing bar sashes and a plain tripartite sash to the right. The second floor has five glazing bar sashes. The three-bay elevation facing Norfolk Street includes a shop window that matches the one on Tattershall Road to the left, and to the right, there are two glazing bar tripartite sashes with 20th-century leaded fanlights beneath segmental arches, set in double recesses. The first floor features three tripartite glazing bar sashes with radiating fanlights and segmental heads, while the second floor has three glazing bar sashes with cambered brick heads. The interior has not been inspected.
