Description

Bakers Bridge is a bridge and sluice gate built around 1805, likely designed by John Rennie, with some 20th-century repairs. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring gritstone coping and curved cutwaters. The bridge has a triple span with three rebates for wooden sluice gates and coped side revetment walls. It includes narrow elliptical arches, a brick band, pilasters, and a splayed parapet on the end piers. This bridge is part of a series on the Cowbridge Drain, which was laid out by John Rennie during the drainage of the Fens.
