Description

Freiston Bridge is a bridge built around 1805, likely designed by John Rennie. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with gritstone coping. The bridge features a three-arch span with elliptical brick arches, which are divided by pilasters on projecting rounded cutwaters that have rounded gritstone tops. There is a brick band along the parapet, which has slightly splayed ends. This bridge is part of a series of bridges over the Hobhole Drain, created by John Rennie during the drainage of the Fens.
