Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church dating from the 14th century, which underwent extensive restoration in the 19th century around 1860. It is constructed from grey uncoursed igneous rubble and features a string course and buttresses. The building consists of a long single cell with a polygonal apse added in 1860, and a west tower located to the south of the nave. The north and south doorways are designed with ogee arches; the north doorway is adorned with two carved heads serving as ornamental capitals and a fleur de lys. The windows exhibit simple decorated tracery with hoodmoulds topped by fleur de lys, although much of the stonework has been renewed. On the south wall, there is a squint and a small ogee-arched priests' door. Inside, two windows on the south side are set in full height recesses, while all windows are in shouldered recesses. The church also features two trefoiled piscinas and a plain octagonal font.
