Description
No. 2 Main Street is an 18th-century house located in Snarestone. It is constructed of red brick and features dentilled bands and eaves, a wide central brick pediment, and a plain tile roof with a rebuilt ridge stack. The house has two storeys with three windows arranged in a 1:1:1 pattern, except for an additional window above the six-panelled door to the right of the central section. There is also a central attic window. The windows have cambered lintels and renewed 2-light casements, except for a ground floor left 3/3 sash window and a blocked window on the right. The left gable end has a 3-light window with top lights, along with a 2-light window above and an attic window. The right gable end facing the street is similar. The rear of the house is also similar, featuring some cambered lintels and a ground floor 3/3 sash window. Inside, there are beams. There is a wing at the rear, with the nearer part having a ridge stack, two eyebrow dormers on both sides, and casements and doors below, while the further part is from the 19th century. In the yard, there are two stone troughs and a stone wall, part of which has a 20th-century brick top, surrounding two sides of the garden, with one end adjoining the house.
