Description
The Snarestone Tunnel Entrances are canal tunnel entrances from the early 19th century, located along the Ashby de la Zouch Canal. They feature rusticated and vermiculated stonework with string courses. The entrances are designed on a concave curve plan, with a depressed arch over the canal. Above the arch, there is an inscription tablet that is difficult to read. These entrances lead to a brick-vaulted tunnel that extends 250 yards beneath the canal. The southern entrance is situated near No. 2 Main Street, while the northern entrance is located near Snarestone Lodge on Measham Road.
