Description
This lamp post, located approximately 10 meters to the north-west of the tower of the Church of St Edward, King and Martyr, dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron. It features an octagonal shaft on a moulded base with blind tracery panels. The lamp post has a moulded octagonal cross bar and a foliated capital. Scrolled brackets support a tapering square lantern, which is glazed and topped with a moulded finial. Although the lantern now contains an electric light bulb, it was originally lit by gas. This lamp post is one of a set of three located in the churchyard and is included for its group value.
