Description
Nos 70 and 72 Market Street is a building from the earlier to mid-19th century, likely built as part of an earlier house. The facade is finished in stucco and features a band above the ground floor, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The building has a tiled roof and end chimneys, standing three storeys tall. It has two windows, which are sashes with late 19th-century glazing and small labels above them. On the west side, there is a round arched entrance with impost caps, followed by a small 19th-century shop window that includes a cornice, frieze, and architrave, as well as a large sash window with glazing bars and a tiled advertisement for a butcher below. To the east, there is a larger 19th-century altered shop front, also featuring a corbelled cornice, frieze, and architrave, with end stops.
