Description

This is a 17th-century garden feature located adjacent to the main churchyard gates in Hoby, on the north side of Main Street. Constructed from red brick with limestone dressings, it has a cemented roof. The niche faces the forecourt of the present rectory and features a round-headed arch with moulded stone imposts and a triple-stepped stone arch, the outermost of which is wave-moulded and includes a console key block. The niche is situated at what was formerly a corner of the Old Rectory garden, right next to the main entrance to the churchyard.
