Description
Dorma House, formerly known as Hoby House, is a late 18th-century former farmhouse that has been altered in the 20th century. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a Swithland slate roof, a brick ridge, and end and lateral brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan. The main, three-story section has a four-window front. A panel door is located to the right of centre, above a flat-arched overlight. The ground floor has tripartite sash windows. The first floor above the door has a 16-pane sash window, flanked by tripartite sashes. The second floor has eight-pane sashes, all with flat-arched heads. A projecting wing to the left incorporates a tripartite sash window on the ground floor, a 16-pane sash on the first floor, and an eight-pane sash on the second floor, all with matching flat-arched heads. The wing has a hipped roof. External features include a plinth, storey bands to the main range at the first and second floor levels, dentilled brick eaves, and a brick-coped gable on the right. A single-storey, lean-to range to the rear is likely original. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
