Description
Church Gables is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof and brick ridge and end stacks. It follows a 3-unit lobby entry plan and has a 4-window front. A 20th-century door is set within a gabled porch, positioned to the right of the centre. The ground floor windows are mostly 2-light casements, with a 3-light window to the far left, originally a 2-light window, all with flat arches. The first-floor windows are also 2-light casements, except for a 1-light window above the door, which has a segmental arch. The exterior details include a plinth, an old blocked cellar window with a segmented-arched head, a storey band, cogged brick eaves, and brick-coped gables. Inside, the house features back-to-back open fireplaces and a bressumer with stop-chamfered spine beams and run-out stops, one of which is a re-used spine beam.
