Description
The Venison Larder, located 20 meters north of the Service Wing at Stapleford Hall, was built in 1820. It is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone, featuring limestone ashlar dressings and a roof made of Collyweston slate. The building has a moulded plinth and a bargeboarded gable topped with a finial. It is a single-storey structure with an octagonal plan and includes a gabled porch. The windows are ogee double lancets with flat heads, hood moulds, and shield stops. The porch features a moulded Tudor arched door with a hood mould, flanked by double lancets on each side. The larder has a double lancet on each of its remaining seven sides. Above the structure is an octagonal wooden cupola with louvred double lancet openings, topped with an octagonal wooden finial and a wind vane shaped like a whale. The interior contains hanging rails and a winch mechanism located in the cupola.
