Description

The Ferns is a house from the early 19th century, built of brick and topped with a roof of graded slate. It has two storeys above a high basement and features three bays, with the central bay projecting forward. This central section contains a panelled door that is accessed by a flight of steps, and there is an iron lamp bracket above the door. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and they are adorned with neo-Greek lintels. A string course runs below the first floor, and the hipped roof is set behind a low parapet, with chimney stacks on the lateral slopes.
