Description

A range of three houses, Nos. 4, 6, and 8 High Street, and No. 1 Queen Street, were built in the mid-18th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with a pantile roof. Each house originally featured three bays, with a central doorway and sash windows beneath segmental arches. No. 6 retains its original panelled door with an overlight, while the other doorways have been replaced in the 20th century. No. 6 also preserves its original 18th-century flush sash windows with glazing bars, whereas No. 8 has late 20th-century windows. No. 4 has late 19th-century sash windows to the upper floor and 20th-century windows to the ground floor. A platband runs between the two floors. The gabled roof is hipped to the east and returns over three bays to what is now No. 1 Queen Street. Four stacks remain on the roof ridge.
