Description

The Market Cross is a 15th-century structure located on the east side of Market Street in Bottesford. It is made of limestone and features a square section base that stands on a flat plinth, supported by five stone steps, much of which has been repaired in the 20th century. The base has large stop-angles and displays a shield on each of its four faces, each carved with the de Roos arms, which depict three leather water flasks, though these carvings are now badly weathered. Above the base, a truncated square section shaft rises, which is immediately chamfered into an octagonal section.
