Description
The Bedehouses are three almshouses that have been converted into a single house. They were established in the mid-17th century by Francis, the first Lord Carington, and were restored in the late 19th century. The building is made of coursed and squared ironstone, topped with a steeply pitched Swithland slate roof and features brick dressings. It has two ridge stacks and a single gable brick stack. The structure is two storeys high with three bays.
On the south front, there is a door to the left, with three casement windows to its right. Above, there are three more casements. The north side features three casements on each floor, all of which are 19th-century two-light glazing bar casements with segmental brick heads. There is also a 20th-century casement to the right. The east gable reveals an exposed tie beam, collar, and struts with brick nogging.
