Description
The Vicarage is a vicarage building dating from the late 17th century and 1716, with later remodels and extensions from the late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble and brick with stone dressings, partly pebbledashed, and features steep pitched roofs made of Welsh and Swithland slate. The building has two storeys plus attics and consists of five bays in a double range.
The north front showcases a three-bay central range with a slightly off-centre gable and a lean-to projection that includes a 19th-century Perpendicular style triple lancet. This central section is flanked by single lean-to bay windows featuring large glazing bar casements with segmental heads. To the left, there is a flat-roofed bay window with a tall margin light sash also with a segmental head. Above this, there are two cross casements with segmental heads, flanked by single two-light casements. Higher up, there is a smaller casement, and above it is a coped datestone inscribed 'W P 1716'. Further along, there are single hipped dormers, each with a two-light casement.
The west end features a tall canted late 19th-century porch with a machiolated parapet, cross mullioned casements, and a panelled door. To the right of the porch is a projecting wing. The irregular rear elevation has an off-centre recessed bay that contains a Tudor arched doorway with glazed double doors. To the left, there is a parapeted two-storey addition with first and second floor bands, and a small casement. To the right, a larger 19th-century casement is present, along with two similar casements above, all with segmental heads. Further right, there is a gabled and parapeted addition featuring a triple plain sash and a French window with a segmental head. Above this, there are two margin light sashes and a casement, all with segmental heads, followed by a 19th-century casement and a hipped dormer with a two-light casement.
