Description
Thatch Cottage is a cottage and adjoining dairy located in Gaddesby, dating from the mid-18th century and mid-19th century, with 20th-century additions. The building is constructed of brick and random rubble, with parts rendered and whitewashed. It features thatched, slate, and flat roofs, along with two gable, a single ridge, and a single lateral brick stack. The structure is a single storey plus attics and comprises four unequal bays in an L-plan layout.
The front of the cottage has a small outshut on the left with a 20th-century two-light casement window. To the right is a part-glazed door with a 20th-century canopy, followed by two 19th-century three-light glazing bar casements. All these openings have segmental heads. Adjacent to the left is a single-storey dairy with a 20th-century cross casement window. Above this, there is an eaves dormer featuring a two-light casement with a segmental head. The east gable has a central 20th-century casement above. The rear of the cottage has an off-centre door flanked by single casements, and to the right, there is a 20th-century single-storey addition.
