Description
Old Park House is a ruin of a house built in 1730 and partly demolished in 1902. It has a square plan and is constructed of coursed dressed limestone over brick. The building has no roof and each facade features two storeys and a basement, arranged in three bays. The corners are accentuated by rusticated limestone quoins. There is a platband at the first floor and a continuous moulded cornice below the parapet.
The south front has a central panelled door that is accessed by a short flight of steps. The door surround is adorned with carved consoles that support a broken scrolled pediment. The window surrounds are also moulded but plain. The east and west fronts do not have any windows. The detailing of the north facade is similar to that of the south, featuring a doorway without a pediment. The windows are sashes, most of which are severely damaged and date mostly from the late 18th century. However, one sash from 1730 survives on the upper floor of the north side, complete with glazing bars.
From the north-east and north-west corners, five bay trabeated quadrants curve towards flanking pavilions, of which only partial evidence remains. The quadrants are supported by four Tuscan columns with an entablature. Inside, there are fragmentary remains of panelling, shouldered door surrounds, and fireplaces.
