Description
The Harborough Hotel, located at 49 Burton Street, is a building from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It features a painted roughcast facade with a plinth and small rusticated stone quoins, topped by a slate roof. The hotel stands three storeys tall and has five windows, each with shaped stucco architraves and sashes that include glazing bars. The centre window on the first floor is a three-light angular bay, complete with a small cornice and parapet. There is a central carriageway arch, and a semi-circular wrought iron lamp bracket, which has been adapted to hold an AA sign, is of good design. The southern section of the building is two storeys and has been largely rebuilt. Inside, there is a well-designed staircase from the early 19th century, featuring two turned balusters on each tread and a ramped handrail. The listed buildings along Burton Street, including Nos 24 to 36 (even), form a group of local interest.
