Description
No. 27 Burton Street is a former manor house that was rebuilt in the early 1870s by Lord Melbourne in an 18th-century style. It is located next to No. 25 on the south side. The building is constructed of red brick with stone bands and lintels, featuring a plinth with stone capping and a slate roof. It has three storeys and four sash windows with glazing bars. The central two bays are slightly advanced and have an asymmetrically placed pediment above the second south window. There is a modern shop window at the south corner, and the entrance is framed by a rusticated stuccoed doorcase. Notably, Edward VII stayed here in 1873 when he was the Prince of Wales. The listed buildings on Burton Street, specifically Nos. 24 to 36 (even), form a group of local interest.
