Description
This is a pair of headstones located approximately 18 meters south of the tower of the Church of St John the Baptist in Grimston. They date from the mid to late 17th century and are made of slate. The headstone on the left features incised winged cherubs above an inscription that reads: "Here Lieth the body of Em Wife of Richard Burton Who Departed This Life the 25th of Decem 1695 Aged 47 years." The headstone on the right commemorates John Burton, who died in 1668, and his wife Catharina, who died in 1705.
