Description
Gaddesby Hall is a country house built in 1744, with additions made in 1868. It was reduced by a storey and remodeled around 1950 by C. E. Ogden. The building is constructed of brick with limestone ashlar and reconstituted stone dressings, topped with lead and slate roofs. It features a plinth, quoins, a moulded eaves cornice, and has four lateral and a single ridge coped brick stacks.
The main south-west front is two storeys high and has a recessed three-bay centre. This centre includes a central reeded Ionic doorcase with a fully glazed 20th-century door, flanked by single glazing bar sashes. Above the door, there are three similar sashes, all of which have rubbed brick splayed heads. Above this, there is a moulded cornice and a coped balustrade with a central crest. On either side of the centre, there are canted two-storey bays, each featuring a first-floor band, moulded cornice, and coped parapet, with three glazing bar sashes on each floor, all having rubbed brick splayed heads.
The north end, which now serves as the entrance front, has an off-centre 20th-century portico with a pediment and a 20th-century panelled door. The rear elevation has 20th-century fenestration with glazing bar sashes. Inside, the building has been refitted in the mid-20th century, reusing the original 19th-century dogleg staircase and panelling.
