Description

Rainbow Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is primarily built of brick on a stone plinth, though there are remnants of a timber frame. The cottage has a thatched roof and the rear elevation faces the lane. It is one and a half storeys high, featuring three bays with outer 2-light casement windows on either side of a single central light, all of which have cambered brick heads. Above, there is a single eyebrow dormer. The main elevation displays a two-unit plan with a central doorway flanked by 3-light casement windows. The eaves are deep and dentilled. Inside the brickwork, a sill beam, wall plate, and vestigial posts can still be seen. There are gable end stacks present as well.
