Description
Shangton House, formerly known as The Corner House, is an early 19th-century house located on the east side of Shangton Road. It is constructed of red brick and features a Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks and brick nogged eaves. The gable faces the front to the right, and the house has three storeys with three 2/2 sash windows that have cambered lintels.
At the center of the façade is a mid-19th-century rectangular brick porch, which is flanked by brick pilasters at the front corners, topped with a flat surface and a small parapet. Each side of the porch has a small 1-light window, and the front features a doorway with a Tudor arch, a six-panelled door, and an overlight.
At the rear, which borders Shangton Road, there is a two-storey wing that has two sets of centre-opening 3-light casements on each floor, along with a lean-to on the left end of the wing. Inside, the house boasts a three-storey staircase with a mahogany rail.
