Description

Saddler’s Cottage is a cottage, dated 1689, with a mid-18th century extension. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with stone dressings and has a thatched roof with a stone truncated ridge stack. The layout is L-shaped, with the original 1689 range projecting to the rear and facing right, behind a larger 20th-century wing which is not of particular architectural interest. The two storeys of the original range contain two casement windows, a three-light and a two-light, over stone mullion windows with hood moulds. To the left is a large, 20th-century glazed porch with a thatched roof. A single-storey 20th-century extension is on the right end, above which is a two-light stone mullion window with a hood mould, and an attic two-light casement. The interior features chamfered beams and an inglenook, with a piece of wood carved with the date 1689 to the left of the fireplace.
