Description

The Shieling is an 18th-century cottage, with a raised half-storey likely added in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and has a plain tile roof with brick stacks. The front elevation features two storeys of three two-light casement windows, with a centre-opening three-light window above a central door, and a single one-light window on the right end. Wooden lintels are present. A wing extends to the rear, featuring an end stack. Internally, the cottage is said to contain beams and an inglenook. The building is included on the list for its group value.
