Description
Shangton Hall Farmhouse is a house built in the 17th century, mostly rebuilt in 1837. It is constructed from ironstone ashlar with a plinth, limestone quoins, and limestone dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features moulded stone stacks at the left center and right end. The farmhouse has a moulded stone shouldered gable and a moulded stone cornice that continues across the gable ends. It stands at 2 and a half storeys with a basement, featuring four 2-light stone mullion and transom windows.
On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a 2-light window, a paired 2-light window, a doorway with a moulded Tudor arch and an 8-panelled Tudor style door, and another paired 2-light window. A flight of stone steps leads up to the doorway. To the left in the basement, there is a 2-light stone mullion window. The left end of the building has ironstone striped with limestone, while the right end features a 2-light stone mullion window in the gable.
At the rear, there are four 2-light wooden mullion and transom windows on the first floor. On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a 3-light window with 1/1 sashes, a doorway with a door similar to the entrance door, a 3-light wooden mullion and transom window, and a 2-light wooden mullion and transom window. Above, there is a 2-light roof dormer. The original house was mostly demolished in 1836, and this farmhouse was built in 1837 for Sir Justinian Isham, although the front and left end walls likely date back to the 17th century.
