Description
Swinford Lodge is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick and covered in stucco, topped with a slate roof featuring coped gables, a parapet, and two gable stacks.
The south front of the lodge is 2½ storeys high and consists of three bays. It has bands at the first and second floors and a plain cornice. The ground storey is rusticated, and there is a slightly projecting central bay topped with a triangular pediment. The central doorway features a 19th-century porch with columns and a triangular pediment, leading to 20th-century double-panelled doors with an over-light. On either side of the doorway, there are single 19th-century tripartite sash windows.
Above the entrance, there is a central glazing-bar sash window with a shouldered architrave, flanked by two simpler glazing-bar sashes. Higher up, there is a smaller central glazing-bar sash with an architrave, again flanked by two plainer sashes. All the windows have flat arches. To the right of the main building, there is a low 19th-century range, and the rear has a simpler extension with a twin-span roof.
