Description

This is a row of five cottages located on Church Street, backing onto the Churchyard. Number 13 is a timber-framed building, potentially dating to the 16th or 17th century, with brick infilling between the timbers. The other four cottages are brick and were built in the late 18th century or replaced at that time. All the cottages are two storeys high and have a two-unit plan. They feature horizontal sliding sash windows with small panes, although many of these windows have been replaced. The rear elevations are constructed of rubble stone at ground floor level. The cottages have ridge stacks and slate roofs. Number 13 exhibits large panel timber framing, arranged in three bays and two panels high. A sill beam is positioned well above ground level, and one vertical post passes below the sill, resting on a stone.
