Description
Beacon Cottage Farmhouse and the barn range to the rear date from the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of granite and slate rubble stone, featuring red brick eaves and a dentilled band, while the barn has red brick dressings. Both buildings have Swithland slate roofs, with the farmhouse showcasing a conical roof and a central round brick stack topped with a dentilled design.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with a basement and has a circular plan. It features mostly round-arched, two-light casements with top lights. There is a gabled porch with sidelights and a casement on either side, along with a blocked opening on each side. To the left, there is a three-light window in the basement and two-light windows on each floor towards the rear. On the right side, there is a three-light casement and a door in the basement, with a two-light window on the ground floor.
Extending from the rear is a long barn range in an L shape, which includes casements next to the house in the house extension and various doors and openings, some of which have rounded frames. Together, these buildings create an attractive and unusual group.
