Description
79 Main Street is a small cottage, mostly dating from the 16th century, with a later wing added to the rear. It is timber framed with brick infill, featuring a single central post, a wall plate with one archbrace, and part of a corner post. There is an impression of another archbrace that has been removed and replaced with brick. The cottage has a cobble plinth and lacks a sill beam, topped with a thatched roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic and a single unit plan. The front elevation includes a doorway and a single three-light casement window to the left. The side wall displays angle posts with archbraces supporting a cambered tiebeam, along with a middle rail and an A-frame forming the gable. In the attic, there is a single two-light horizontally sliding sash window. A projecting brick flue is located on the side wall, and there is a later brick wing at the rear.
