Description
Nos. 75 and 77 on Main Street are a house dated 1703, constructed of brick on a cobble and moulded brick plinth, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a narrow gable facing the street and stands three storeys high with a single bay. There is a doorway on the left and a renewed window on the right, with the cambered head of the former opening still visible above. The first floor features two renewed windows and one attic window, all set beneath deep flat arched brick heads, with sill bands present. The date is marked in blue bricks below the first floor windows, and the eaves are overhanging. To the left, an earlier bay is partially timber framed, supported by one post and an archbrace beneath a tie beam or former wall plate, which has been heightened with brick. There is a blank recess to the right and a cart entry leading to the rear, which is likely renewed. The Welsh slate roof suggests that this building may have once been part of No. 79.
