Description
Nos 16, 17, and 17A on Fennel Street are a terrace of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of brick, rendered, and topped with a plain tile roof, featuring four brick ridge stacks. The buildings rise three stories and have a five-window range. A central elliptical carriage arch is present, with one door featuring a rectangular fanlight above it located in the left-hand part. The right-hand part has twin doors, with the right-hand door likely being a later addition, both set in pilastered cases and also featuring rectangular fanlights. There are flat projecting bands at all levels on the first and second floors. The original windows include 16-pane sashes on the ground floor, where three survive, and on the first floor, where one survives. The second floor has 12-pane sashes, with three surviving. Additionally, there are long windows (three 12-pane) in the staircase projections at the rear of each part.
