Description
This is a post box located in the wall of an outbuilding, approximately 75 metres north-northwest of 'Field Fares' in Barrow-upon-Soar. The post box dates from 1859 and is made of painted cast iron. It features a pedimented aperture hood and has a panel below the aperture with raised initials "VR" and a central crown. This post box is an example of the first standard wall box with a pedimented hood, made by Smith and Hawkes of Birmingham. It has a blue brick surround. The mid-19th century outbuilding to which it is attached is not considered to have special architectural interest.
