Description
Lime Tree Cottage is a cottage, originally two dwellings, dating to the 17th century and around 1800. It is constructed of red brick, with a rubble stone plinth, timber framing, and a Swithland slate roof with brick ridge and rear wing end stacks. The front range is from the 17th century, with a rear wing added around 1800. The front range is two-and-a-half storeys and features 2 3-light centre-opening casements with top lights on both upper floors, and a small 1-light window on the first floor. A 6-panelled door with overlight is located to the right. The timber framing is of 2 bays, featuring 3x3 panels with brick nogging. A 1½-storey lean-to is on the left end, with a 6-panelled door and overlight, a 1-light window on the end, and a 2-light window in the gable above. A two-storey wing to the rear includes further casements, sashes, and a door. Internally, wall posts and beams are visible, and there is an inglenook fireplace.
