Description

The Hall Headstone, dating from 1673, is located in the churchyard of St. Leonard. This small headstone is made of Swithland slate and features a carved inscription dedicated to Dorathie Hall. It stands to the south of the blocked southern door of the south aisle of the church. This headstone is noted as one of the earliest preserved examples, and Swithland is recognized as the home of the slate-engraving craft.
