Description
Stone House is a cottage, likely originating from the 17th century, which was refurbished around 1904. It features rough cast render with stone quoins and a thatched roof. The building is 1½ storeys high and has a two-unit plan with a central doorway. The doorway consists of a six-panelled door set in an architrave, supported by consoles beneath a flat canopy adorned with modillions and other decorative elements. The windows are triple light sashes with small upper panes, topped with stuccoed heads that include keystones. There are two large dormers, likely added in 1904, featuring 4-light sashes in broad wood architraves. The eaves cornice is moulded stone. The cottage has two old brick chimneys, one on the left gable and one to the right of the doorway. Above the door, a stuccoed plaque displays the name 'Stone House'. Most of the decorative details on this elevation are attributed to the 1904 refurbishment when the house, previously two separate dwellings, was extended with a rear range. Inside, there is a chamfered spine beam.
