Description
The lychgate to the south of the Church of St Michael was built around 1863. It is constructed from sandstone and timber, featuring a slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and two Celtic ridge crosses. On either side of the lychgate are ashlar walls that support double gates, each gate having a panel below and three open pointed arches above. The walls are topped with arcades of pointed open arches, and at each end, there are cruck trusses that support the roof. The southern truss is inscribed with the words "Thou art a place to hide me in." This structure is included for its group value with the church.
