Description
Mount Pleasant is a farmhouse built around 1787. It features red brick construction with a plain tile roof and brick gable end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a dentil eaves cornice. The north elevation has three bays, with a central doorway that has a moulded wooden doorcase and a dripmould. The six-panelled door is linked to a semi-circular headed staircase window above, which has glazing bars and is flanked by glazing bar sashes under segmental heads. There is also a smaller, later window to the left. Above, there are two glazing bar sashes with wooden lintels. To the left, there is a lower 19th-century wing, and to the right, there is a 19th-century cottage that is not of listable quality.
The south elevation features a central doorway with a segmental arch and a glazed overlight. To the left, there is an early 19th-century canted bay window, and to the right, a glazing bar sash under a segmental arch. Above, there are three glazing bar sashes under flat arches. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with stick balusters. The farmhouse was constructed after the common land was enclosed in 1775, and a beam in an outbuilding is dated 1787.
