Description

Ingleby Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling. It dates back to the 17th century and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed from rubble sandstone and features timber framing with brick infill, which has been extended in brick at the gable ends. It has a plain tile roof with brick stacks at the gables and stands two storeys tall over a basement that is built into the hillside.

The basement has rubble sandstone walls, while the upper section displays box framing with diagonal upward braces. On the north elevation, there are four panels of timber framing supported by two horizontal posts. The ground floor includes a 20th-century two-light casement window and several single-light windows, while the first floor features two 20th-century single-light windows and two 20th-century two-light windows.

The south elevation also has four panels of timber framing. The ground floor has two single-light windows, flanked by two two-light windows and a small segment-headed fire bay window on the right. The first floor contains two two-light windows, all of which on the south side have 20th-century casements with diamond leaded lights. Inside, the cottage retains exposed ceiling beams.
