Description
The retaining wall, steps, and gate piers surrounding St Giles' Church were built in 1826 and are made of coursed squared sandstone and ashlar. These low retaining walls enclose a raised rectangular graveyard around the church. To the west, there is a flight of five stone steps that lead up to a pair of octagonal ashlar gate piers, which feature lancet panelled sides, moulded octagonal caps, and concrete cross finials. A pair of wrought iron gates is situated between the gate piers. To the north, there is a lower inner wall with chamfered copings and a pair of urns, which form a lower walkway on the north and east sides. Another flight of five stone steps descends to this walkway that leads to the house. There are short octagonal piers with urns, along with two additional piers and urns that are in damaged condition. This structure is listed for its group value only.
