Description
Deercote, located west of the Church of St Giles, is a late 18th-century building constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings, originally plastered. The roof, which was originally tiled, is now in ruins with some rafters still remaining. The structure has a rectangular plan, featuring two open chambers along one side and two closed chambers at either end, and is a single storey high.
The north and south elevations are characterized by a three-bay arcade supported by circular ashlar columns with moulded capitals. The building has angle quoins, and the gable ends display partly blind Venetian windows. The east gable end features two rectangular openings below, while the west gable end has three lozenge-shaped blocks that serve as breathers. There are fragmentary remains of walling attached to the northwest that relate to a demolished deer shelter.
