Description
The Navigation Inn is a public house dating from the late 18th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed of painted rendered brick, featuring a plinth and a hipped concrete tile roof with rendered side wall stacks. The building has a moulded cornice at the front and dentilled eaves on the sides. It stands three storeys tall with three bays, plus a single-storey 20th-century addition to the east and further 20th-century additions to the rear.
The main elevation includes a full-height semi-circular headed recess, flanked by plain bands on the first floor, while the ground floor features corner pilaster strips. The central moulded stone doorcase, which contains 20th-century doors, is flanked by three-light 20th-century casement windows set in raised rendered surrounds. Above, there are three two-light flat-headed 20th-century casement windows, and above those, three similar shallower windows.
Inside, the building has chamfered ceiling beams. The Navigation Inn is included in the register for its group value only.
