Description
The Baptist Chapel, built in 1840 with 20th-century alterations, is a single-storey structure located on Clifton Road in Netherseal. It is constructed of red brick with gauged brick dressings and features a hipped concrete tile roof with a dentilled eaves band. The chapel has four bays and a central doorcase with a segment-headed design, which includes double panelled doors. This doorcase is flanked by smaller segment-headed iron windows that have opening casements. On either side of the main entrance, there are narrower segment-headed doors with pointed Gothic panels. Above the entrance, there are four similar windows, and a stone plaque in the center is inscribed with 'Baptist Meeting House 1840'. The west wall of the chapel has been rendered and features two pointed windows at the gallery level.
Inside, the chapel has a plain ceiling with a reeded ceiling rose and a panelled gallery to the east supported by iron columns. Original box pews are located on either side, and at the west end, there is a late 19th-century raised dais with a balustrade. All the windows are topped with simple hoods.
