Description
The Mill at Mill Farm is a late 18th-century watermill with a 19th-century addition and later alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features plain tile roofs with dentilled eaves bands. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. The east front includes a small hatch at the ground floor with a plank door, and two segment-headed openings above: one to the south with a small pane 2-light casement window and one to the north with a plank door. Recessed to the north is the lower 19th-century addition, which has a flat-headed door and a single-light window above. On the northern elevation, at the junction of the two ranges, there is a wide segment-headed door, with a 2-light segment-headed casement window above it. The south gable wall has a blocked opening that once housed an overshot wheel. Inside, the mill features a double purlin roof supported by raised cruck trusses that are yoked at the ridge. The roof also contains a wooden pulley wheel used for shifting sacks. Originally, the mill had three sets of millstones, all of which have been removed, and it was powered by a turbine in the early part of this century.
