Description
The Croft is a house located on Main Street in Newton Solney, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof with gable stacks. The building stands three storeys tall and has decorative dentil bands at the first and second floors, as well as an eaves cornice.
The north elevation consists of three bays and includes an off-centre doorway with a segmental head and a raised and fielded panelled door, which is topped by a 20th-century gabled hood. This doorway is flanked by 20th-century bow windows, also under segmental heads. On the first floor, there is a 20th-century single light window, accompanied by three 3-light segment-headed casements. Above these, there are two more 3-light casements set beneath flat arches. The rear elevation mainly features 20th-century windows.
Inside, there is a stone chimneypiece with a lintel supported by massive moulded brackets, which has been altered by a modern fireplace below.
